Homemade Chicken Raised Noodle Soup
Pour in your bone broth or veggie broth halfway in the crock pot and add in a WHOLE chicken. We literally use a chicken or roaster from our farm and if you want to know how to do that and package properly well that’s a whole other blog post! But if you do not have that luxury I understand. If I happen to not have a chicken ready that week I will buy organic chicken breasts from my favorite place ever our Tallahassee Local store New Leaf! If you’re not a Local then I would go with Trader Joe’s for good Organic Chicken and your Broths.
Chop up: White onion diced, Organic mixed potatoes in halves, Organic Mixed Carrots, Organic Celery, Organic green onions, 1 Orange pepper, Organic mushrooms, Garlic, Basil, and Thyme.
Add all your veggies to the broth in your crock pot EXCEPT the mushrooms and green onions. I add pepper and Pink Himalayan Salt as well. When it comes to seasonings I want to get my flavor from fresh herbs mostly because the point of this soup is to heal you, not taste like seasoned fried chicken. My husband no matter what will add Tony’s to his personal portion every time but for me and my son I do not add anything else because to me it is perfectly salted enough but some of you may want more like my husband.
I let this cook on high for 3-4 hours or until the chicken is completely cooked through. Sometimes I add about 1-2 cups of water depending on how much is not covered from the broth before covering it up with the top and letting it sit.
Once I am getting ready to serve I add in the mushrooms and green onions.
For the noodles I like to use Linguine ( I cut it up small like Campbells noodles) but you can use whatever kind you like. I always cook a lot of pasta because we like leftovers and also because I never add my pasta to my soup until I serve it for dinner in our individual bowls so we get whatever portion of noodles that we want in our soup. This is a dinner that I want to last all week so the pasta being left in the broth isn’t good I believe. Over time the pasta gets bigger because it’s sitting in the broth so long it absorbs too much and the pasta gets soggy and gross so leaving it seperate is best in my opinion. While the mushrooms and green onions are cooking I start cooking my pasta.
Drain pasta and serve your desired portion in bowls.
Add scoops of veggies and chicken on top of noodles and then cover everything with broth.
ALL DONE!
Now, all you have to do all week is start up the crock pot for about an hour or 2 and add it over the pasta! I don’t even heat up the pasta either I just sit it out of the fridge to make it a little more luke warm while the soup is heating up and then when I add the broth to the noodles and let it cool down before taking a bite the noodles get nicely heated too! Super easy and I guarantee you will not only feel better but see a change in your congestion as well.
Sappys Jalapeño Deviled Eggs
Start with boiling your eggs for about 12-13 minutes. I usually do 12-18 eggs at a time.
Place eggs in ice water for another 13 minutes or in a bowl in the fridge for a few hours if you have other things to tend to like myself. I like to make them ready to serve and I like them SUPER cold before I peel them because I think it makes for a cleaner peel. *TIP: If you find you’re not getting a smooth peel try adding 1 tablespoon of baking soda to the water while the eggs are boiling.
Time to Peel! My favorite thing to do besides the whole eating them thing! Peel your eggs and save the shells! I like to crush them up and add them to my chicken and quail food for extra protein for them or I add them to our compost! We like to use up just about everything we can in this house.
Cut the eggs down the middle and separate the cooked yolk into a mixing bowl.
Add your ingredients to the yolk and mash until smooth and creamy!
• I use FAGE 0% yogurt instead of mayo - 2 spoonfuls
• Mustard - one and a half tablespoons
• Garlic salt
• pepper
spoon your mixture into the eggs and top with paprika, sliced jalapeños and even some crushed red pepper flakes if you dare!
Enjoy!
